Sea of Black Hearts
in stock
An original 5″ x 7″ folk art acrylic painting on recycled cardboard, titled “Floating in a Sea of Black Hearts.” A lonely white skull floats in a red sea of black hearts.
I thought this piece was rather sad. Most of the time I feel out-of-step with my fellow humans and there is so much anger and hostility in the world. I was definitely in a mood when I painted this piece. Interestingly enough, my husband (who I do feel very in step with) thought that the skull’s eyes were rather mischievous. Just goes to show, art really is in the eye(s) of the beholder.
Recycle, renew, and reuse are not just words to us, but a way of life. Being Green just makes sense. With this in mind, I kept looking at all the cardboard boxes that we recycle and I wondered what I could do with them. One morning as I was breaking down a Pop Tart box it hit me. I can make this my canvas! Instead of buying canvases, I’ll make them by reusing Pop Tart, granola, cereal, cookie, cracker, you-name-it boxes. It’s an idea whose time has definitely come.
